Our Club meets in North Nibley Village Hall (between Dursley and Wotton-under-Edge in the south Cotswolds) every Thursday evening from October to April. The club was founded in 1948 as Cam and Dursley Camera Club: its present name is taken from William Tyndale, whose memorial stands high on the Cotswold edge above North Nibley, and reflects the fact that our members are now drawn from a wide area. The hall has a loop system for the hard of hearing and a large screen for projected images.
We have members of all levels of photographic expertise, and particularly welcome those new to photography who would like to develop their skills and meet other photography enthusiasts. We pride ourselves on being a very friendly club, where all are made very welcome. The evening always includes a break for refreshments and chat!
Our programme each year is a mixture of visiting speakers, competitions and home grown evenings (where members are encourage to show and discuss their photography) along with a good mix of social activities. We are affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through our own Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF). Our members are encouraged to enter work in Federation exhibitions and competitions as well as international Salons, where we have achieved a satisfying degree of success. Our season also includes visits to and from other clubs and various inter-club competitions.
We hold monthly competitions for images in both print and pdi format. The subjects for each competition are open except for one which has a different set subject each season. We also arrange walks and trips to various locations through the year for members to practice their photographic skills.
Although after covid we are back to meeting face-to-face, occasional meetings will still be held over zoom. You will find full details of our various activities and programme for the current season in the drop-downs under the Programme tab above – updated as and when fixtures are confirmed.
If you would like to join us you can be sure of a very warm welcome.
